After her vote for moving the health care bill to the floor on Tuesday, I wrote the following letter to Senator Lincoln of Arkansas:

WHY?
It cannot possibly work, and you know it will raise taxes. I want answers, and not patronizing ones either! This is socialism, this is an overstepping of authority, and the bill hasn’t even been written yet. Is the Apollo Alliance going to write this one too? What special interests are being ‘taken care of’ with this health care monstrosity?

I want to know, by what authority granted in the Constitution, you felt that you even had a right to vote to proceed with this boondoggle.

Senator, since President Obama first took office there has been what seems to be an organized effort to destroy our Constitution. We were guaranteed the RIGHT to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

What right to life is left when our healthcare is in the hands of a government bureaucrat?

My liberty is being constrained by being forced by government to purchase a product I may or may not want.

How can I pursue happiness when my children’s future is being destroyed by government spending?

Senator Lincoln, I have voted for you in every election since you first went to Washington. Right now, unless there is a major change I cannot envision ever doing that again as I feel as if you have violated my trust and your responsibility.

I had to pull the car over onto the shoulder as I was laughing so hard I couldn’t see.  My wife and I had just left the house on our way to pick up  our daughter from college to take her to the doctor’s office.  I had just turned on the radio to listen to Glenn Beck on the way and the first thing I heard him say was that he wanted to break the news and to hang on past the commercial.

I really hadn’t even thought about the IOC voting Friday morning.  I knew, of course that Obama was spending millions of our dollars trying to take care of some payback he owed to the boys back in Chicago.  Valerie Jarrett owned some property also that could certainly use a buyer, especially if the buyer was going to be paying top dollar for it.  Michelle, and the Big ‘O’ were already in Copenhagen to the delight of the main stream media.

I think everyone took it for granted that no one would be stupid enough to send Obama over to Copenhagen, on the taxpayer’s dime, to campaign for the Olympics to be held in Chicago if it weren’t a done deal!  I assumed that the ‘fix was in’ on the deal and his going over there was just to receive the accolades for doing such a wonderful job in politicking for them.

Glenn came back on after the break and they had set up a bit where Stu was the ‘on the spot’ reporter watching the events unfold and when they said that Chicago had lost the bid on the first round I really thought they were joking.  When it became obvious that they were serious, I had to pull over and the first thing I thought of was the ‘de-motivational’ pictures I had seen online that were captioned ‘EPIC FAIL.’  I had to pull off the road I was laughing so hard.

Later, when I had a chance to get to my computer I checked out The Drudge Report and the headline there said, The Ego Has Landed.  For our nation’s sake, I hope the ego has landed and this presidency will stop being all about Obama and more about this country.

Back in the day, back when the residents of our country were still subject to the Crown of England, people were neighbors.  They lived in small communities and even the largest of cities were small compared to the standards of today.  In fact, many people today drive farther to work each morning than our forefathers could travel in a day.

Being the mobile society that we have become, we have grown apart from our neighbors.  No longer do we gather at day’s end to hear the news over a mug of ale at the local tavern.  We get our news about what is going on in the country on the nightly news programs or cable, and increasingly from the internet.  Social networks have taken the place of the local tavern and we talk and gossip on Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace.

Our elected representatives are seemingly isolated from us and many citizens feel unrepresented in Washington.  Our Constitution requires that the Congress meet at least once every year. Once a year?  It is to the point that we can barely pry them out of Washington.  The problem is, not only do we feel unrepresented, our representatives are not in touch with the mind of the people they represent.

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and even the President feel that their agenda is what the people want and they refuse to listen to words to the contrary.  Protesters against taxes and government health-care are labeled extremists or they are accused of being shills for corporate interests.  Nancy Pelosi calls them ‘Astroturf’ meaning they are imitating a grass roots movement.  Representatives cancel ‘Town Hall’ meetings because they are afraid of being called out by informed constituents.

The problem is that our representatives are taking their cues from their party leaders instead of us, the ones with the power to take them out of office.  Let this be a wake up call to our Congressmen and Senators, We are by-passing your controlled news media outlets, we ARE meeting albeit not on the streets, we DO know what you are doing, and that you are not listening to us, but trust us, WE WILL BE HEARD!  If not now, then in 2010 and 2012. 

Like Japan found out after Pearl Harbor and more recently Al-Qaeda found out after 9-11, our representatives will find out after their votes are cast that we the people still have the last word, and they are being watched.  Don’t cause this sleeping giant to stir because their isn’t much call for an out of work politician.

Damn it! Look, if you have enough waste in government programs to pay for this freakin’ health care program you want, fix the damn waste first! Then let’s talk. Until then, take a long walk down a short pier!

In an article in The New York Times, Mr. Obama tells us,

Two-thirds of the costs for covering new people will be paid for by taking waste out of the system

That is a lie from the pit of Hell and it smells like smoke! Stop trying to treat us as if we were children.

Insurance, a sore subject lately. Mr. President let’s take a look at this shall we? First of all, we are talking HEALTH insurance, not AUTO insurance. They are not the same, and they are not purchased for the same reason. Auto insurance is purchased for the same reason we buy homeowner’s insurance, to protect the lender, that is comprehensive. Liability, the part you keep trying to associate with your plan for forcing us to buy health insurance isn’t to protect our vehicle, it is to protect us from legal actions resulting from our incompetent use of the vehicle.

Now the way I understand this is that you are planning on fining me $3800 if I don’t buy insurance. What was that again? You are making me a lawbreaker for not buying insurance? Okay, where are my rights? Do I have a right to a jury trial? What about an attorney? Can I just go to jail if I refuse to pay? And if I do go to jail, who pays for my health insurance there?

Let’s get real, shall we? Who are you going to have enforcing this, since you are getting dangerously close to making it unprofitable for me to work at all, I would be just as well off in jail and letting the government take care of my needs.

GET THE HELL OUT OF MY BUSINESS AND LEAVE ME ALONE!

President Obama, I understand that you find the alleged actions of the rogue ACORN workers inappropriate.  Personally I find them criminal, but here are a few things I do find inappropriate.

I find it inappropriate that you have abandoned your promise to not raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000 and can do so with seemingly no shame.  By the way, I think if you would ask most people, they would agree with George Stehanopoulos that forcing someone to buy insurance or be penalized is a tax, and that is just one of many I am hearing proposed.

I find it inappropriate that you would show up on five different news programs this morning yet manage to snub the one that doesn’t fawn over your every word.  I find it even more inappropriate for you to spend an hour on  The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday. Don’t you have things you need to be doing? 

I find it inappropriate that you don’t pay enough attention to what is going on in this country that you aren’t even aware that ACORN is getting millions of tax payer dollars but with no information about the situation you are willing to call the Police officers at Harvard stupid  when they are doing their job, just because it was one of your buddies that was arrested.

President Obama, I really feel you need to keep your happy butt at home and do the job we hired you to do and keep your hands out of our wallets.

It is the most laughable dialogue I have ever heard, at least since Balki and Cousin Larry left the airways.  George Stephanopoulos interviews President Barack Obama about the recent ACORN scandals that have been in the news over the past couple of weeks.

STEPHANOPOULOS:  How about the funding for ACORN?

OBAMA:  You know, if — frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely.  I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.

STEPHANOPOULOS:  Both the Senate and the House have voted to cut it off.

OBAMA:  You know, what I know is, is that what I saw on that video was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.

STEPHANOPOULOS:  So you’re not committing to — to cut off the federal funding?

OBAMA:  George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country.  It’s not something I’m paying a lot of attention to.

Oh, really?  You haven’t been paying a lot of attention to it?  Did you happen to catch anything on the news last week about that little demonstration on the Mall?  Maybe, just maybe, if you would get your head out of your Republican for a minute you might hear about some things that are going on that a few people in this country are concerned with.

Mr.. President, you are drawing a salary from the people of the United States and you are expected to earn it, not prance around the countryside trying to sell your special brand of health care, we don’t want any, thank you very much!

In the recent unprecedented address to the joint House of Congress, President Obama was heckled by Congressman Joe Wilson. Obama was assuring the world that his plan would not cover illegal aliens when Congressman Wilson could no longer stand it and he shouted out, “You lie!”

While shouting down the President may have demonstrated a lack of decorum in this august body, it was what many people in this country felt in their hearts.

The amazing thing to me though, was not the heckling, which I do regularly during the news every evening when I hear lies like this. The amazing thing was the look on Speaker Pelosi’s face when she heard him shout. It was priceless and something I know I will cherish for some time to come.

Personally, I would like to see more of our representatives in Washington standing up for what we believe and worrying less about what others think of it. After all, part of their job is to act as a check on the powers of the Executive Branch, and that means keeping the President honest.

Since Obama took office in January of this year, it has been one crisis after another. We know that the stated policy of the White House is to not let a good crisis go to waste, so my question is whether or not they are trying to keep the kettle stirred up.

It seems that everything that comes out of the White House is calculated to create a disturbance. Nothing it seems has the ring of business as usual. Obama has been flying all across the country to try to push this Health Care Reform, or Insurance Reform, or whatever it is supposed to be this week. Now he is threatening to force through a health care reform plan that bypasses the Republicans entirely. Smart move! Let’s just tell the country to take a long walk off a short pier why don’t we?

Cash for Clunkers, at this writing, only about 5% of the payouts have been made to the car dealers who participated, which threatens many dealerships with bankruptcy since they had to front the money in the first place. Wouldn’t that be a pip? Obama protects the manufacturers he bailed out with our money yet allows the ones who did the leg work to take a bullet for the administration. Thanks guys!

There just seems to be too much going on that has people stirred up, and that makes me smell a rat somewhere. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain…

Health Care Reform. Oh let’s not call it what it is, ie; Socialized Health Care. BO – The President wouldn’t like it, or maybe I should say he doesn’t like it, and has said so.

Isn’t having the government run the health care system and telling us that they are not going to take away our choice somewhat similar to Hitler telling Chamberlain that he had no desires on Europe? In other words a bald faced lie? People in the media seem to be having trouble with that word. But an intentional statement designed to hide the truth is a lie. Okay, that’s all said, let’s look at some logical points here.

No one is being forced by the government to change their insurance plan. This is probably true, no one is going to force you to take part in the government plan, with one small exception. You will be required to PAY for it. If it is run by the government, it is run with tax dollars.

You won’t have to give up your present coverage. Okay, the government won’t force you to give it up, but the truth is that if our taxes are being used to subsidize health care then companies will stop providing it. It is a hassle and an expense that they would certainly like to be shed of. Where does that leave us? Why either uninsured, or right on the Obama Single Payer Bandwagon.

Will the government offer us vouchers or tax deductions for choosing our own coverage outside the plan sponsored by government? Well, think about school vouchers, those have been sought by the people who do not like the education provided by our tax dollars and who have taken it upon themselves to send their children to private school, the government says no, you may not have tax vouchers for the money spent on private schools, but thanks for playing our game.

It would appear to me, that if this plan goes through, that we are just screwed again.
