It wasn't my fault, were you aware that TurboTax doesn't come with a manual?

Timothy (TurboTax) Geithner and Tom Daschle both seem to be a part of President Obama’s Brain Trust. Our new Treasury Secretary and Health and Human Services Secretary both seem to have a bit of difficulty with paying their taxes.

Geithner has a good excuse though, that Turbo Tax from Quicken, man that is some complex software to master. Intuit estimates only 20 million tax returns are prepared with their software annually, so it it obviously not a user friendly program.

The thing to remember though is that these mistakes were not intentional and they are truly sorry for them (or at least that they were caught), and it will never happen again. Since we can surely take them at their word, we can also feel confident they have been sworn in to their respective cabinet posts.

That brings to mind something else though. Officials from The Peanut Corporation of America are truly sorry for the Salmonella outbreak traced back to their plant in Lynchburg, GA (or at least that they were caught). Certainly we should be able to give them the same breaks we are giving to Daschle and Geithner, right?

And while we are at it, what about that guy who inadvertantly pulled a gun and robbed the clerk at the local convenience store? He’s sorry too. There was no malice intended, the clerk just had more money than he did and he wanted it.

No, it seems that it is just Anarchy for the Upper Class and do as I say, not as I do.

But what exactly is Cinco de Mayo? Many people think of it as the Mexican Independence Day, but that can’t be. El Grito, 16 de Septiembre is when Mexicans celebrate their Independence. It was in 1810 that Mexico declared independence from Spain. Cinco de Mayo celebrates the Mexican victory over Napoleon’s invasion army at Puebla as they were marching on Mexico City. This was not the victory over the French which would come some five years later, but a David vs. Goliath victory where the superior French forces were beaten back by the under-equipped Mexicans.

Here in the US, Cinco de Mayo has become a celebration of Mexican heritage, and even more than that, it is a time to ask all Americans to press 1 to continue in English, and to sort through the instruction manual to find instructions in English.

This is a time for Americans to reflect on the problems we have on our borders and to ask our Senators and Congressmen to act to close our borders. Not to close them to legal immigration, our nation was built on immigration, but to stop this flood of illegal aliens from their march across our borders. Call them on Cinco de Mayo and tell them that it is time we enforce our border laws and strengthen our border defenses.

Write your Representative a Green Card and mail it to them on Cinco de Mayo, let them know how you feel. You can find your Representative’s address here. Another way to get involved is to fax your Representative and that is what NumbersUSA is all about. Remember, these people work for us and it is OUR power they wield in Washington. Don’t let them abuse it!

But, that is just My Arrogant Opinion.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio was back in the news last week. If you aren’t familiar with Sheriff Joe take a minute and visit the Maricopa County Arizona Sheriff’s Office web site. The Associated Press ran a hit piece on him and his work targeting illegal aliens in the area. The piece titled, “Arizona sheriff stirs furor with crackdown on illegals,” posted on Brietbart.com, takes a decidedly liberal slant on the enforcement of our laws, but I don’t suppose anyone is really surprised at that. Warner Toddy Huston gives a very insightful analysis of the article at Newsbusters.org with his piece entitled, “An Example of AP’s Bias in Favor of Illegal Immigration.”

I had heard about Sheriff Joe some months back on the radio when some talk show host was discussing crime and Sheriff Joe’s unique approach to maintaining his jail. I have often thought that we needed more people enforcing our laws like Joe, after all, if they can live better on the inside than the outside why should any criminal be concerned about getting locked up?

It should be something of a wakeup call to the liberals in office that with an approval rating of over 75%, people are liking what Joe has managed to accomplish as Sheriff of the 3rd largest county in the United States. People want to see inmates out doing hard labor, they want the punishment to actually make them think before committing more crimes in their back yards.

Why are we so concerned with the well being of the very criminals who have broken the rules of a civilized society. By breaking those rules, they have told us that they do not believe in them so why should we treat them with such deference? I think the main stream media needs to wake up and start seeing what the rest of us see, that our country is headed for trouble, and that trouble is of our own making. Let’s stop coddling criminals, there are plenty of things they can do to start repaying this society for their anti social behavior. Let’s take a page out of Joe’s playbook and start taking our cities and towns back.

But that’s just My Arrogant Opinion.
