According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Whore is defined as follows:

Whore: \ˈhȯr, ˈhu̇r\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English hore, from Old English hōre; akin to Old Norse hōra whore, hōrr adulterer

1 : a woman who engages in sexual acts for money : prostitute; also : a promiscuous or immoral woman
2 : a male who engages in sexual acts for money
3 : a venal or unscrupulous person

A male who engages in sexual acts for money, hmmm, does raping the American people in order to get a special deal from the health insurance boondoggle bill of 2009 qualify as a sexual act for money? Well, no matter, the third definition certainly fits the situation if nothing else does.

Ben Nelson Senate Whore

Ben Nelson (D) Nebraska, has decided that being a whore in the Senate is worth it when the price is right. Thanks to his seductive ways, Nebraska will not have to foot the bill for their expanded Medicaid System…into perpetuity.

That’s right folks! My tax dollars and yours will be going to pay for Medicaid in Nebraska while they sit back smoking a cigarette and enjoying the afterglow of Ben’s frolics.

When will this abuse ever stop? When will we, as a people force a change? We need to repeal the 17th amendment and go back to the State Legislatures selecting our Senators and stop them answering only to the special interests that can give them the biggest check. I know that I am not alone, and I am as pissed off as I have ever been with politicians and am ready to put my time, money, and effort behind my anger and work to kick the bums out of office.

But that’s just My Arrogant Opinion

At the close of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia on September 18, 1787, a Mrs. Powel anxiously awaited the results, and as Benjamin Franklin emerged from the long task now finished, asked him directly: "Well Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" "A republic if you can keep it" responded Franklin. [From Ron Paul’s ‘Speeches and Statements’] Franklin has also been quoted as saying, “He who gives up a measure of freedom for security deserves neither.” To paraphrase this quote, I would say, ‘he who allows freedom to slip through his fingers in order to take his ease, deserves neither.’

There were fifty-six men who were willing to put their lives and fortunes on the line for the sake of freedom. These are the men who signed the Declaration of Independence, the signing of which we celebrate every year with pic-nics and fireworks. These men gave of their time and money to forge the documents that would frame a new nation the likes of which had never been seen on this earth. They did their best to make sure that their posterity knew the cost of the ink these documents contained because they knew that that which is too cheaply obtained is not cherished. They feared for the new republic.

As a people, we need to re-visit our founding documents, immerse ourselves in the Federalist Papers. Learn our Constitution, and know what our founding fathers were trying to accomplish when they set pen to parchment and ensured there could be no turning back on the course they had set for themselves. We need to understand these documents so that when we see things being done by our elected representatives we can call them on it, stop them from ignoring the ‘rulebook’ and keep them in check.

The three branches of our government are supposed to keep each other in check, but over the past hundred years or so they have been slowly moving towards the center and the lines separating the branches have been eroding. We have to put a stop to it now, before, it becomes evident that Benjamin Franklin’s worst fears became true, and we did fail to keep the republic.

During the past few weeks, as the Pelosi health care bill was being cussed and discussed, I called my Congressman’s office in Washington. First, I wanted to add my voice to the others who were opposed to the bill, but I wanted something more. I wanted to know exactly how they justified this bill constitutionally. The staffer I spoke with told me basically that they weren’t constrained by the Constitution unless they were challenged and lost in court.

I’m sorry to say, that I was stunned into silence when I was told that, but I made up my mind right then that I would do everything within my power to unseat Marion Berry from his seat in Congress. If he can’t read the job description in the Constitution, he has no business being in office.

But, that’s just My Arrogant Opinion

How does Sheila “Cellphone” Jackson Lee have the audacity to stand on the House floor and criticize a private citizen, Rush Limbaugh, for trying invest his hard-earned money in a business venture?

This is a joke yet no one is laughing. We don’t have enough to keep Congress busy that they have time to get involved in a private business venture? This bid to purchase an NFL team is not a matter that affects public policy. There are no national interests involved. By what authority does she stick her official nose into this affair.

Sheila, you need to mind your own business and let the rest of us mind ours! When you stand up in Congress, you are on MY DIME! Sit your happy butt down and shut your pie hole unless someone calls on you!

Once upon a time in a fantasy land filled with wonder, there were journalists who spent their time trying to dig out truth from the flood of statements and declarations made by politicians and others whose actions affect our lives.

Over time, these watchdogs of Liberty slowly gave in to the lure of being accepted into the halls where they once lurked, poking around to find the truth about what was going on. Popularity with the very people they were supposed to be watching had made them soft. They rested at ease as lapdogs for the politically powerful, accepting tidbits of ‘news’ as it was fed to them as absolute truth. They knew that to question the one who gave them the story was tantamount to biting the hand that feeds them.

Look here to see what happens when someone dares to ask a question of Al Gore about his theory of climate change:

Once in a while a true journalist shows up and remembers what those heady days of yore were like, or more accurately, they imagined how those days might have been since they were too young to have known them.

We need to support journalists when they dare to show their heads in this world. Let them know that they too are truly public servants whose job it is to open up the body politic and dig out the cancer that grows in the dark. Open it up to the air so that it can heal. Their job is not to lay on the rug before the fire accepting tidbits from their master, they are to stir around and find out what lies in the dark corners protecting the people from the cancer that is the lust for power that so many politicians suffer from.

But, that’s just My Arrogant Opinion

Back in the day, back when the residents of our country were still subject to the Crown of England, people were neighbors. They lived in small communities and even the largest of cities were small compared to the standards of today. In fact, many people today drive farther to work each morning than our forefathers could travel in a day.

Being the mobile society that we have become, we have grown apart from our neighbors. No longer do we gather at day’s end to hear the news over a mug of ale at the local tavern. We get our news about what is going on in the country on the nightly news programs or cable, and increasingly from the internet. Social networks have taken the place of the local tavern and we talk and gossip on Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace.

Our elected representatives are seemingly isolated from us and many citizens feel unrepresented in Washington. Our Constitution requires that the Congress meet at least once every year. Once a year? It is to the point that we can barely pry them out of Washington. The problem is, not only do we feel unrepresented, our representatives are not in touch with the mind of the people they represent.

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and even the President feel that their agenda is what the people want and they refuse to listen to words to the contrary. Protesters against taxes and government health-care are labeled extremists or they are accused of being shills for corporate interests. Nancy Pelosi calls them ‘Astroturf’ meaning they are imitating a grass roots movement. Representatives cancel ‘Town Hall’ meetings because they are afraid of being called out by informed constituents.

The problem is that our representatives are taking their cues from their party leaders instead of us, the ones with the power to take them out of office. Let this be a wake up call to our Congressmen and Senators, We are by-passing your controlled news media outlets, we ARE meeting albeit not on the streets, we DO know what you are doing, and that you are not listening to us, but trust us, WE WILL BE HEARD! If not now, then in 2010 and 2012.

Like Japan found out after Pearl Harbor and more recently Al-Qaeda found out after 9-11, our representatives will find out after their votes are cast that we the people still have the last word, and they are being watched. Don’t cause this sleeping giant to stir because their isn’t much call for an out of work politician.

But, that’s just My Arrogant Opinion

Saying that the current level of rhetoric is reminiscent of what she witnessed in the 70′s she is telling us that the radical left is about to start getting violent like they did in the 70′s.

Oh, wait a minute, who was it that bit the finger off of a protester a few weeks ago. Hmmm, seems like that was left-winger.

What about a peaceful abortion protester being gunned down in cold blood by a radical left-winger. Looks like the gloves may already be off. What about it Nan, is that you waking up sleeper cells of the radical left wing?

In the recent unprecedented address to the joint House of Congress, President Obama was heckled by Congressman Joe Wilson. Obama was assuring the world that his plan would not cover illegal aliens when Congressman Wilson could no longer stand it and he shouted out, “You lie!”

While shouting down the President may have demonstrated a lack of decorum in this august body, it was what many people in this country felt in their hearts.

The amazing thing to me though, was not the heckling, which I do regularly during the news every evening when I hear lies like this. The amazing thing was the look on Speaker Pelosi’s face when she heard him shout. It was priceless and something I know I will cherish for some time to come.

Personally, I would like to see more of our representatives in Washington standing up for what we believe and worrying less about what others think of it. After all, part of their job is to act as a check on the powers of the Executive Branch, and that means keeping the President honest.

But that’s just My Arrogant Opinion

Since Obama took office in January of this year, it has been one crisis after another. We know that the stated policy of the White House is to not let a good crisis go to waste, so my question is whether or not they are trying to keep the kettle stirred up.

It seems that everything that comes out of the White House is calculated to create a disturbance. Nothing it seems has the ring of business as usual. Obama has been flying all across the country to try to push this Health Care Reform, or Insurance Reform, or whatever it is supposed to be this week. Now he is threatening to force through a health care reform plan that bypasses the Republicans entirely. Smart move! Let’s just tell the country to take a long walk off a short pier why don’t we?

Cash for Clunkers, at this writing, only about 5% of the payouts have been made to the car dealers who participated, which threatens many dealerships with bankruptcy since they had to front the money in the first place. Wouldn’t that be a pip? Obama protects the manufacturers he bailed out with our money yet allows the ones who did the leg work to take a bullet for the administration. Thanks guys!

There just seems to be too much going on that has people stirred up, and that makes me smell a rat somewhere. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain…

But that’s just My Arrogant Opinion

Normally I stream Rush Limbaugh at my desk, actually I listen to Glenn Beck first then follow it up with Rush. Since the election though, I haven’t been listening to nearly as much as I normally do because the news is just too depressing. Every day there seems to be a new townhall meeting that Obama has flown off to. Let’s see, with the economy as it is, in the tank I mean, corporate presidents are no longer allowed to use their corporate jets to fly into Washington to get reamed out by the likes of Barney Franks and his crew, but it is fine to fly Air Force One and all the accutremonts all across the country on a daily basis.

Meanwhile orders placed years ago for aircraft by major corporations are being cancelled and causing an entire industy to teeter on the brink of disaster in order for a couple of corporate bigwigs to save face in front of some stuffed shirts in Washington.

Anyway back to my original point. Rush has gotten this thing all wrong. Today he said that this was straight out of the pages of Orwell’s 1984, but actually this whole thing can be taken almost verbatim from the pages of Ayn Rands Novel, Atlas Shrugged. What needs to happen now, is the people being made to come under the thumb of the federal government just need to go limp. Let Obama run the banks, the manufacturing facilities the wheels of industry that have made this country great. Let him run it, if he can, otherwise, get the hell out of the way and let the people who know what they are doing do it.

But that’s just My Arrogant Opinion
