My Arrogant Opinion

Opinions are like noses, everbody has one and they all smell.

Radical Conservatism

Conservatism, exactly what does that mean to me? One thing it doesn’t mean is being a Republican. Back during the Reagan years, maybe, but not any longer. In those days being a Republican had some meaning but over the years since then they have given up their principles and moved to the left in a big way.

William F. Buckley was the father of modern conservatism, or at least he managed to bring the various factions on the right under one over-arching canopy called Conservatism. Buckley was able to bring together Libertarians, Anarchists, John Birchers, and anyone else who didn’t fall under the mantle of Liberalism and take their commonalities to create something of a united front.

The current Republican candidate for President keeps talking about how bi-partisan he is, and how he has been able to work with the Democrats to get things done, but what he fails to mention is that he is constantly giving up his principles (assuming he has some) in order to work on their projects.  Reagan was all about working with Democrats as well, but he expected them to cross the aisle to join forces with him and not the other way around.

At any rate, if the Republican party wants to claim the mantle of Conservatism in this day and time, I will have to say I am a Radical Conservative.  Or better yet, a Classic Liberal.  More on that later.
